Does anyone know of any tips to help get started? I've been ready to start work for weeks, and just really want to get out on the bike and see if I can do this job. I'm young, enthuisic and can easily put miles into my legs, but I haven't yet even had a sniff of an oppurtunity despite trying to contact every company in London I can find. If anyone has any links to jobs or knows of any jobs, that would be very helpful indeed. Thank you. ]]>

Becomming a courier - How much? Who? Where..? http://www.movingtargetzine.com/forum/discussion/2383/becomming-a-courier-how-much-who-where- Wed, 12 Oct 2011 09:19:40 +0000 Methuselah 2383@/forum/discussions
Seems Cyclone & Creative & City Sprint are at places worth trying. Is it just a case of turning up at the door and asking if they taking people on? Is this a "good" time of year to look for work (i.e. going into winter)? Do these places usually offer a guaranteed minimum (saying that, I've also read that if they do, they try and keep you *to* that minimum by restricting your drops..?) As a reference figure, how likely is it I could make...say...£250 a week? Working hours.. being a newly-graduated actor, how likely is it I'd get the chance to take hours/half-a-day/a day off for auditions etc?

Any info gratefully appreciated! Cheers.]]>

-white genesis flyer 54cm frame with black front fork, there are a lot of them out there but this one has not quite the standard set up any more:

-black zebra stripes on the frame and red handle bar tape with black nobbles over the brakes
-mavic open pro wheels, the back one is a flip flop wheel
-the gear ratio looks a lot different to most standards as the front ring has something like 53 teeth and the back one has 11, i think.
-it also has double-sided shimano spd s with platic cover pedals on one side and a different saddle from the usual one in black cloth covered with flex written on the side

any suggestions or hints are welcome as i do love my bike and hope to see it again some time!

many thanks!]]>

The front-end of the website I will be building, but need a coder to collect and distribute payments and accounts. This is where I hesitate... I'm not really sure on a pricing scheme - or how about to go about inquiring (that's why I'm here :)).

I would like someone to explain to me some of the intricacies of the business... Payment, zoning, guaranteed delivery times, dispatch, things like that. I mean, basically, I need to know even small details like what happens if you get a couple of cold-calls (out of the blue requests for delivery), and payment is in cash? What's the normal drill? Drop off, deduction from you pay, etc?

I just don't know. I am hoping to find someone who does or at least can point me to another resource. :)

Thanks all for your time, can't wait to be back on the road again!]]>

Im happy doing grafting hard for a living as long as i dont have to sit in a f****ng office

Was wondering if this is a common chain of thought or if anyone has some advice/experience:

Is there any danger of earning less than £250 a week?
How much endurance should you build up in advance? (miles per day)
How close do you get to jacking it in the winter?]]>

Hope you are well! My name is Adam Sweetingham and i am the owner of a company called the Green route. We are Oxfords first real cycle courier company and we need a little help.

We have pretty much done everything we need to do to set up company. Found premises, ordered some really cool bullitt courier bikes, having website completed with full accounts and admin system. We are in discussion with the council for a big contract and also found other companies that are dying to use our service. Complete marketing strategy in place etc. All sound really good . . . .

Slight problem is my and my business partner have never worked as cycle courier and really need some sound advice on the operational side of the business; we have all our services planned out and how we are going to offer them but now we really need to know how to execute them!!

Why are looking at finding someone with loads of experience and paying them to come and sit down with us for a couple of hours and really mentor us on the operations of a successful cycle courier.

We really plan to make this a professional organisation and really need some industry expertise to help us achieve this! We can come to meet you in London or you can meet us in oxford with travel expenses paid!

We are friendly guys and could really do with someone on the inside from the off! Is that person you??]]>
