"Yeah, Bill.. like it or lump it. That what you are saying? "

Exactly. The third option is to form some sort of worker's organisation, and change the relationship between couriers and the companies. But that could never happen, right?

@ Bill. You have tried so hard in the past. Do you really think this is ever going to happen? Particularly as we got thieving cunts like this running the show, making it more trancient than ever.
And I was actually talking about uniforms. Wich brings me back to city sprint(I can have a pop at creative if you like). Is it true that they charge weekly reductions for a bog standard "uniform t-shirt"? If so, how much has someone who worked there for, say five years, paid for a t-shirt?

Ha Ha...interesting.Both Bill and marckpatton although not directly responsible for this practice have both avoided taking a position on the matter ,merely stating how the situation is right now (big fukin news to me), as they both probably know only too well it is wrong and probably somewhat against the law. Being both fully employed members in these companies however i can understand the limitations of their wisdom on the matter , but do us a favor Bill , blaming for this the couriers for not having a union is at least patronizing and certainly doesnt make it any more acceptable than before , just because someone is blind you dont go around stealing his money or are you?.
  2.
Angeleyes, to say that I have never taken a position is completely untrue. I am absolutely NOT blaming the couriers for it, but I am saying that it won't change without concerted action from the couriers.

If I refused to comply with the uniform policy at my company, I would be out of a job. Would you or others then pay my rent?

Well if you were a tall blond --brunette will do fine too--with big tits and let me share your bed with you every night i would certainly try to do everything in my power to pay it but you are not.

Seriously thought , i can understand that you would be out of a job as you are fully employed , i am only asking if this practice should be extended to non company stuff, and what do YOU in person think .If you feel you have a conflict of interests then just say so and bow out gracefully. Ans spare me about the union stuff.

If i was in your shoes i would probably adopt the same attitude-- not my problem , dont ask me , sort out your union kinda -- so no personal blame , but i would say that right or wrong is what pays my rent and since that i would avoid commenting against it anyway.Same goes for Mrcpatton.

I guess the legal team in CS are somewhat taking their time going through the fine print of the law Mr Patton?
  3.
What I am actually saying is, I did try and sort out a union twice (with others), and it didn't work.

Why should I spare you the union stuff?

And yes, there is a conflict of interest, but I have made my views on uniforms and charging pretty clear on more than one occasion.

i didn't know that- rrrrrespect where it's due for trying, unfortunately it's failure is IMO why we're in this position now. no union means people like MP have a free reign to do this.

incidently i remember my first and only LBMA meeting (after you had left) and i brought up the subject and was told quite bluntly that it been decided a long time ago that the LBMA would have nothing to do with trade unionism.

Honestly as i am not in it anymore i don't give a flying F**k. Am sorry if that sounds selfish but its the truth.
As i said before , its all academic to me now.
You ask : why bother with the discussion then?
Answer: cause i did spend a large amount of time working with them and i would like to get a few answers on the level, cant force them to do so but its always interesting to see who can put their money were their mouth is.
Dont get me wrong ,I wish for all the couriers the best , but wishful thinking is not what changes things.

Also i dont like the offending swearing towards ppl , this is a forum not a football stadium.Doesnt make you look any more brave, or righteous, than you may think you are just fuks up the discussion .Use arguments. If you wanna say something say it to the face if you mean it or if you have the balls. My view.

Yeah, that decision would have been taken around the time that I resigned. A big mistake, in my view.

I cant and it would be stupid to blame anyone who want to earn their living no matter were they come from, and before you jump in any racist conclusions about me or my thoughts on the subject let me inform you that i too am a foreigner (Greek). It was something else i was thinking but cant see the point of elaborating anymore.I am feeling like am talking in front of the Pontious pilate association when it comes to you or any other 'management' representative in this site.
Its always grey for you guys as this suits you best.
  7.
I don't represent the management - and to accuse me of being equivalent to Pontius Pilate - I think you probably meant Judas, but still, - I think that really says it all.

You made an ill-thought out remark, to cover for your own apathy and lazy thinking, and you now follow it up with more ill-thought out remarks aimed at smearing my character, and also my record.

    Even better work!

No i meant P.Pilate, ie not taking any side..Judas has to do with betrayal.
Ill-thought tell me which one and i ll try to explain it better for you.
As for my apathy and lazy thinking cant see were you getting this from. The fact that i dont care anymore is a natural outcome of me not working in this industry anymore.Surely you dont expect me to pretend i care like you claiming for example, after all you are still in it one way or another .If you referring to apathy at me when i was working as a courier again surely you cant expect me to start a revolution by myself .And anyways its all sweet talk when you sit comfortably on the other side of the river , how about the years you were a working courier ? what revolution did you start back then?

I have heard Bill's reputation. And despite how all might sound i am not trying to have a go at him or offend him in person. If i did am sorry .But as he is someone who's position hence his interests have changed from when he was a lowly self employed courier to someone who is a full employee of a certain firm, i must challenge him to certain questions and hope that his answer truly reflects his vast experience on both sides of the river , and not just his current position interests. After all this is just a forum, not her majesty's court of justice, what could possibly harm someone if he was to speak his mind on matters like this openly without any fear of retribution?
    Amen.

By the way, patten's gone very quite. Perhaps he's been told to shut up by CS above him or, has he finallly seen sense. The former I think. You said £500. Put your money were your mouth is.
  9.
Has the LCEF heard anything from Mr Patton regarding his promised donation?

"As for the LCEF, action speaks louder than words and you'll see some true colours, some very generous colours. until a few days ago i didn't even realise it existed."

We know your colours (at the monent) are blue, but what of your "generosity"?

And whats this about a long standing CS rider/ex-office girl Justyna getting told by you to leave CitySprint HQ when she popped in to chat with her friends, "your not welcome any more"???
Why? Because she was a member of the original "Patton facebook" thing.
  10.
@ Mike, £500 was for the piss up fund bro, he was talking about some serious cash for the LCEF... At least £2000 I think he said?

Also my bets on £20 'rent' pw for riders to use them
  11.
I noticed in this month's "Private Hire & Courier" that McDonald's have taken over Post Haste (a.k.a. Arrow) - you'll have noted that the word "Post" has been removed from the Post Haste vans. They can't afford a respray just yet, but I'm sure they'll find some way of deducting money from riders and drivers to pay for one soon.
This takeover was largely due to McDonald's abysmal failure to crack the market in Reading, where they upgraded their office and aggressively sold their services to try and break Post Haste's virtual monopoly. Post Haste - a decent independent firm out there until taken over by Arrow in 2004 - have eight or ten bikes and maybe thirty-odd vans in Reading.
Rates haven't gone up since the Arrow takeover but they were still OK. It was a very odd system, with prices bearing little relation to actual mileage, but it worked out at 65p-70p a mile or so. McDonald's paid their riders out there 49p per mile. (They were offering £500 guarantees when I last checked, but that's nowhere near as good as a similar sum in London, given the mileage and petrol costs.) They vastly undercut Post Haste's charges to their clients, yet the twat they employed as a salesman still couldn't get the big users to switch.
They gave up and bought the Post Haste operation, presumably with a fat profit for the Arrow vermin who paid about £1m for Post Haste in 2004. Dickie Howard must be laughing all the way to the bank; Judy Benn obviously isn't, as she's downstairs looking up. First anniversary of her snuffing it this week. (Send your donations to charity, rather than putting flowers on her grave.)
Another step on the way to world domination by McDonald's.
