We ride on the wrong side of the road here and we'll have Bicycle Courier Appreciation Day 1month and a half after the rest of the world...sorry Overdrive, we should have gotten involved before but hey... So Bicycle Courier Apprecaition Day will be happening on Thursday the 26th of November from around 9 in the morning 'till we run out of coffee and bagel. No sure about the location yet but somewhere central where couriers are going thru like the end of Shaftsbury avenue (New Oxford st side), we'll let you know closer to the day. There will be coffee, tea and things to munch on..all free to show you guys how much you are appreciated for your daily hard work. By the way, if anybody out there, fancy doing some baking and sharing it with the wider community,go ahead. We gonna need: -coffee urns/big flask things (Ross will provide one but more would be better) - a folding table - a source of electricity so we can brew some coffee and boil some water So if anybody can help out with those, get in touch. We will also use the opportunity to give couriers out there, who don't know about us, informations about the London Courier Emergency Fund. Morer details coming soon....
Howzabout knocking up some cheap leaflets to give to some of the more amenable postroom guys we encounter, so that there's a chance of our being appreciated by someone other than ourselves? I know some of them will tell us where to stick it, but others are very lovely (there's one guy who keeps giving me cans of coke), and would probably at least give us an extra smile that day, if they knew...
Oh, and put me down for baking. I'm not all that good, but I can produce large quantities of sugary stodge, and that normally goes down well.
Oh, and what about some sort of corporate sponsorship? (i.e. freebies) If no one objects, and if no one else is already doing it, I'd be happy to ask around, and see if anyone's willing to give us stuff, in exchange for basking in the glory we reflect.
"howzabout knocking up some cheap leaflets to give to some of the more amenable postroom guys we encounter"...
i have tons of postcards left and would be good to find an use for them. they already appreciate couriers, it won't be difficult to print simple labels to stick on the back with anything you need to say.... there are 3 versions of it: 1- courier shoes VS city shoes 2- csaba dressing as a lady + can of beer + bike shadow 3- john zooming into traffic with moving background
Sorry people, no internet access lately...Emilia, thanx for offering your baking services, we'll get in touch closer to the day...if you wanna look into getting postroom people involved/ sponsorship, feel free to do so, if you get any freebies, maybe they could be used as prizes for the Alleycat that Overdrive's gonna organize (right John?)...Lisa, i think Darren's gonna get in touch with you to see if we can use your postcards to spread the word amongst couriers..... We still one of those folding table thingie, anyone?....
Bumping this...... There'll be free inner tubes given out to first 25 working couriers.Or toothless f*ckwits. Pornomike will also be serving hot coffee whilst balancing a yak on his forehead.
Free yak piss milkshakes for the first 25 couriers. All that we ask in return is for your quiet co-operation whilst we take finger-prints, DNA swabs and retina scans which will of course go towards establishing the welcome new LCEF databank and accompanying 'london-courier' biometric ID card. For the puposes of possible future claim substantiation, all work-realted journeys will now be recorded using a live satellite feed that we will program to key into the 'non-invasive' implant we'll be secreting in the bagels. Thank-you in advance for your help and understanding in this matter.
First batch of brownies done; more, plus flapjacks, and any other requests, to follow over the next couple of days. Any suggestions as to how I can transport them intact from N5 would be more than welcome.
Right, just in case I don't manage to get through to Stephanie later, I'm going to leave the baked goods at Fullcity (72 Leather Lane) at 8am when I start work. There's the equivalent of two large shoeboxes - it should fit in a Pac bag. (Don't know how I'll get it all down there if it doesn't!)
Thank you very much to Fullcity caffee in Leather lane, for the good coffee and the nice tea, thank you also to all the chefs of the amazing chocolate cakes and the amazing flapjacks and of course to the guys that put there soul into the Portugese recepies of Natas and the Queijadas, thank you also to Andy 4 the tubes and redbulls, and to our mechanic Ross, and to the guy that was carding the coffee flasks in his bag, hats off to all of you.
In LCEF name, we hope you have all enjoyed.
See you on The 18 of December @ foundry for the X-mas party.
