After the oddness of Time Outs anti cycling/facist rant and the Daily Mails pro-cycling stance the Times manages an outstanding 'Kill Cyclists' piece..

I for one found it a very well written and considered piece,

Another waste of oxygen, though I wouldn't get too irate about this as it was written in 1987. He's probably come round to the idea now that bikes are the saviour of the planet. Just read his wikipedia entry too...

O'Rourke was an early proponent of Gonzo journalism; his nascent masterwork in the genre was a National Lampoon article, appearing in March of 1979 "How to Drive Fast on Drugs While Getting Your Wing-Wang Squeezed and Not Spill Your Drink."

You'd better hope he's not driving past you when he's drunk, on drugs and having his wing wang squeezed...

The thing about all of these pieces (cyclists are anti-social scum), is that they are designed to be 'thought-provoking' ie annoy people, and say 'what everyone else is thinking', and they tend not to be not very well written or researched. I try not to get too bent out of shape, because in the main they are so absurd as to not be worth even reading.

"I don't like the kind of people who ride bicycles
...the people I see on bicycles look like organic-gardening zealots who advocate federal regulation of bedtime and want American foreign policy to be dictated by UNICEF. These people should be confined."

there is something in that though, flame me.
