I got this email today, and it seems that a lot of you also did:

    "Dear Buffalo Bill,
We hope this message finds you well and enjoying your weekend. We're
writing from a Los Angeles television production company, Pilgrim
Extreme. We're currently producing an episode of "In Harms Way", which
is a show that features risky and challenging businesses/jobs. We're
looking to feature push bike messengers in London and we were referred
to you. We have a rather aggressive production schedule and we're
looking to shoot within a little over a week. With that said, we'd
love to talk with you to discuss our project and the possibility of
featuring you, your company and your companies messengers in our hour
    long episode.
We're available via e-mail and phone this whole weekend. Please let us
know if you see this projects as something you would want to know more
about, especially since it would give you excellent exposure.
Looking forward to your timely response.

    Thank you for your time.

    Cheers,

    Camille, Gia, & Jody

    In Harms Way"

I strongly suggest that no-one has anything to do with this lot. A decent pay-day for a couple of messengers will in no way compensate the potentially bad consequences for our friends in the States. Unless we are talking of 10s of thousands of pounds for the LCEF. And even then, what's the point? "Excellent exposure"...

Do you think we are stupid?

Oh, I PEDAL my bike. The only people that PUSH their bikes are motorcyclists that have broken down.

    Grrrr.

I used to refer to my riders as pushies, but after catching myself on the radio telling everyone to "shutup while I talk to my pushy" I stopped.

I got 3 more emails from people interested in making a TV doc about couriers.

    Here's one of the them:

    "Hi Bill

We spoke last Friday, but I thought I’d write to you as well, I work for a TV production company called XXXX Films, www.XXXXfilms.com we’re renowned for making sensitive and insightful documentaries, most notably the Emmy and Bafta award winning The XXX XXXXX XXXX XXXX XXX for Channel 4.

I’d like to ask your advice; I’m interested in making a fun and insightful documentary for Channel 4 about bicycle messengers, showing how you’re a tight-knit community, but most of all I want to show you’re passion for bikes and especially racing or alley-cat racing. Firstly do you think a film would be well received among messengers? Would some people be up for being in the film? And how regularly do ally-cat races happen? Are there any coming up?

If you ever fancy having a chat during your lunch break, let me know, I work in the XXXXX in Shoreditch.

    Cheers

    XXXX "

"fun and insightful": not just fun, not just insightful but BOTH together. That's how you win a BAFTA.

I did a little search for www.XXXXfilms.com and got some shocking results.

I think someone's got the wrong end of the stick, as it were. I wouldn't mix with these people, Bill.

    Oh, wait.

    Ah...

Hey i got this email on my myspace account:

My name is Josh Herbst and I'm the casting producer on a new television series currently in development called "In Harm's Way."

The show will feature people from around the world who have exciting and sometimes dangerous jobs. I think it would be great to feature bike messengers from one of the world's most congested cities on the show. I know that you're currently based in San Francisco, but I gather that you're from London

I'd love to talk to you about the show (and about working in London). I'm a bit of bicycle freak myself so it's funny I should end up working on this show. I'd love to hear about your gear and the job and all that jazz. Maybe you could introduce me to some of your friends in London? If you're interested, please email me at herbst.jj@gmail.com

    Cheers,

    Josh

I guess its a good thing that i didnt reply........
